And the winners are…
Petra was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World chosen by some 100 million voters around the globe. The 2000-year-old rose red city ranked second with the Great Wall of China taking first place, organizers of an international contest declared in a special ceremony held in Lisbon said.
According to the New 7 Wonders organizers, a tally of 100 million votes had been cast since voting for the global campaign kicked off in March 2006.
Brazil’s Statue of Christ Redeemer, Peru’s Machu Picchu, Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid, the Colosseum in Rome and India’s Taj Mahal were named the other New Seven Wonders of the World. It is a little confusing because that equals 7 but I thought that the only remaining former wonder, Giza Pyramids, were to continue on the list so I’m not sure what is up with that.
Not much on the entertainment front. Mostly bashing of Katie Couric, more new cast members for Shark (which I don’t watch) and 24 (which I stopped watching) has halted production because they have thrown out the current script and are in rewrites.
My goals so far for the week. I have worked in my craft room on Sunday and made some progress. I’m going in for extra hours today but hopefully can get back in there late this afternoon. I have asked one person to join my crew so I am just going to look for one more. I have done nothing with the filing. I realized that I can’t make the appt. with the Dr. I don’t like until I see my other specialist so I changed that one to making the appt. with the other specialist which I will do today. I have not started the reupholstry job but I have a Dr. appt. Thursday with my regular guy and go right past the store I wanted to check for fabric so I am going to do that Thursday. I, also, go by the used bookstore and thought I might try to take some books in for trade.
Kevin and I are going to see Harry Potter on Friday afternoon. I am gotten the confirmation that my book will be delivered on the day it is out and I can’t wait. My friend and I were talking about all the possibilities last night and getting all excited. I maintain and will until I read it that I still believe that Harry will not die. I know the odds are against me but I feel strongly about this. Of course, this may mean that after the 21st I won’t be on my blog for a while as I will be reading and if I am wrong may be seeking therapeutic assistance. I still sob when I read book 5 and 6 and I don’t know how I’m going to take the two deaths in book 7 until I know whom it is.
