Hello! My name is Junebug and I’m a TV-oholic. It’s true. When I was a child it was my escape. I lived on a farm and aside from my pets (cats, dogs, rabbits, horses & goat) during the school year I was often on my own. I came home to 3s Company, Happy Days, and the occasional after-school special. Then in high school I found a social life and rarely watched any tv shows except in the morning my cousins and I would watch Bewitched in the morning before getting on the bus. In college I had a group of girlfriends that I would meet up with every Thursday. We would watch 90210 and then head to the club to dance on the stage by ourselves. However, as I aged and I noticed that I started to lose my confidence again. I’ve retreated to my old pal the TV. Fortunetly and unfortunetly we now have a dvr which means I can watch more shows then ever. A long ways from the farm antenna with two channels or three on a good day. I know that in the next year I have to make my break from the tv. When we move or the contract is up in June with our provider I am cutting the cord. I hope that most of the shows I like will be online but if not I just need to move on. I have got to start getting back out into life again. But for now I have a few more months of TV so here are some current thoughts on my favorite shows.
DWTS – Kate really? She is just akward out there and so is Shannon, Aiden(better this week), Buzz, and about half the cast. So far no favorites for me except maybe Chad or Evan(but we know I have a thing for Olympians.)
Lost – I’m almost completely lost. Seriously? I love you – why have you forsaken me?
AI – All the people that auditioned and this is the best? There are about three that are in a league all their own and the rest are just eye candy or something. Serious fastforward action happening with my remote.
Survivor – I left it many seasons ago because I got bored. I came back this season because some of my favorites were back. Those bit.ches have some issues. I might not last the whole season. First of all, it reminds me that I’m getting old. Second of all, some of them are just a bucket full of crap.
The new show Who do you think you are or something like that – I feel like a total geek that I am so into this show. Last week, M. Broderick discovered one of his relatives in the same cemetery where I found one of my relatives. Small world.
Amazing Race – I about sh*t a brick Sun. when I thought the cowboys were gone. I screamed when I found out it was a non-elimination. I have two other teams I want to go home now. Love me some cowboys.
I, also, watch Castle, Chuck, Hoarders, The Closer, Psych, Burn Notice, NCIS, CSI(all but Miami), V, Parenthood, Ugly Betty (I will miss thee), Glee, ANTM, Community, Office, Mentalist, Flashforward, Without a Trace, Undercover Boss, Celeb Apprent., and several more if you can believe that.
How about you? Any shows you can’t miss? Have you found you can live a full life away from the TV? For me it is a security blanket. I can turn on the tube and turn off my life. I know it is not good for me but sometimes we have to do what is not good for us until we are ready to face what is good for us. I’m going to search for a 12 step program or maybe I will just tivo a recovery show.

90210, Melrose, CSI (not Miami), Dateline, 48 hours Mystery (ohhh, love that show), 20/20, The Big Bang Theory, Lost, Criminal Minds, Intervention & Snapped (both when I had cable), Cold Case, Medium, and Ghost Whisperer (bottom of the list – this show has an unusual premise, but then to add the Book of Shadows that keeps changing ??? Come on, I'm not that gullible.) I think I covered them all.
(((I was very upset when Without a Trace was cancelled…)))
I recently dropped Ghost Whisperer because it was annoying me. It started losing me with the Sam/Jim thing, then the baby and now this book thing. Please. I forgot I, also, watch Medium and Cold Case. Big Bang looks like something I would like but I've stayed away so I didn't add to my list, however, the upcoming guest star is very intriguing. I might netflix the series after I get rid of cable. I didn't even touch on my ID and BBC addiction.
I just realized that my tv list is very dark and deadly, for the most part. Hmmmm,
My hubby said the other day, "Ummm. What is with the crime drama lately?" My response, "Just keeping you on your toes. Be afraid. Be very afraid." I have a penchant for the supernatural. If it is mixed with crime drama – all the better.
AI (even though I think this season sucks), Glee (SQUEE!!!), Castle, Private Practice, and that's about it. I also am a bit obsessive over the weather channel.
I watch a lot more television than I should. But when I need to unplug my brain there really is nothing like it. The problem is that I like SO much (over the years, The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, Dexter, True Blood…etc.). It's a rare evening out that I don't prefer to be at home, on the couch, tuned in…
I watch way too much TV lol! My big obsession is Days of our lives! Been watching it for many many many years..since I was 13! I also love the ones you wrote about! AND law and order SVU!!!
Can I join your TV-holoic group?? I watch way too much tv and know that I can get so much done if I would just turn it off! But after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is clean! But the first thing I want to do is crash on the couch!
I love Lost, Glee, 24, Modern Family, Desparate Houswives, The Real Housewives (I watch ALL of them), Brothers&Sisters, and more. I hate how there's hardly anything on during the summer but reruns.
Have a great weekend! (Try not to watch to much tv).
