I’m doing something I swore I would never do which is to allow people to purposely destroy my soul and slap my baby. That is right – I’m joining in the Critique My Blog Blogfest. ((What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.))
Here are the rules:
You can make comments on:
a. Appearance: Does it appeal to you? Is it too busy, or too plain?
b. Layout: Is it difficult to navigate? Is it cluttered, or sparse?
c. Frequency: Does the blogger post too often? Not often enough?
d. Content: Are the posts interesting? Unique? Are they focused, or all over the place?
e. Quality: Are the individual posts too long, too short, too sloppy, or too generic?
You can post in the comments or send it to me in an email at junebug1990 (at) hotmail (dot) com. (((It is only to help you!)))
Perhaps talking to myself via (((insert positive message here))) won’t be enough to protect me from spiraling down into a world of self-hate and mental duh bashing so perhaps you could sprinkle in a few nice bits among all the negatives. (((You can handle this!))) I’m going to go hide at the yogurt shop for awhile. I can’t actually eat anything there so I might get kicked out soon. I think I need to take up smoking again.

your sunday socials and eavesdropping on myself posts are always hilarious and helpful.
i miss the old style cute blog and i have a hard time navigating these new fangled wp formats, but that is just me.
you keep writing and entertaining us! love having you around!
Thanks! True I do miss a little bit of whimsy with this streamlined design. I’m going to have to work on the design. Sadly there isn’t a nice in between style of Blogger and Wordpress. I have to admit the ease of design use and the safety of it being mine makes Wordpress way too valuable for me to go back to blogger. It does make it rather hard to go back and forth with the formats.
I love the color scheme and the logo. Nicely branded to your blog. The type face is very nice. It just caught my eye. I love the way the post are ordered with the read more tags. You are doing an awesome job.
Thank you for your kind critique!
Clean, well organized, and the only thing I’d have to add is maybe slightly bigger font ? But that’s ticky tacky!
Thanks for the feedback! I increased the size of the font.
I’m only being critical cuz I designed the original. I tend to be harder on myself than on another designer. ;p
Besides, I’ve learned gobs about Thesis since the original launch.
Here we go:
1. Your hover links in your menu bar could be a different color. Gray is eh.
2. We could move the social media icons as well as the search box up into your header, pushing your main image to the left. That way, we can use up that valuable blank space in your header.
3. Also, the menu bar needs to stand out more. Maybe with an alternating color. As it is now, it gets lost in the sea of light yellow. We need to spruce that up.
4. Notice I keep saying ‘we.’ Ha!
5. The footer is also valuable space. If someone makes it all the way to the bottom of your blog, you want to have something there to make them stick around. Maybe a second menu bar or additional widgets.
6. Jon is right about the font size. A good font size is 14 px, from what I’ve recently read.
7. I wish I could figure out why bullets are appearing in the widgets on the bottom of your sidebar. The perfectionist in me wants them *poof* gone.
I am very interested to read feedback from your other readers. Hope they don’t let me down.
PS. Love the bug.
A phrase I just posted on fb comes to mind: Don’t fear the enemy that attacks you, but the fake friend that hugs you.
LOL Seriously I agree on all accounts. Great feedback. Plus, WE need to ditch the GFC and add social icons for G+ and fb.
Facebook is evil. Speaking of fake friends… ;p
Brave lady Junebug!
Thanks! I feel like a complete wimp. I’ve avoided this for so long but in reality it has been very helpful. It is always the things I avoid which provide some of the greatest rewards.
Your icon is just lovely, so cute. It really makes your blog stand out. The right hand side of your blog is a little bit busy.

I love your header (very cute!) I know you have an about page, but I would still like to see a bio and picture in the right-hand-column. “Put Away the Pitchforks” made me giggle…it seems you have a sense of humour! I’m now following your blog because you seem interesting and your posts seem interesting.
Thanks for stopping by! I totally agree! I do need a little author bio on the front page. I’m working on one right now. Thanks for the follow and I will be stopping by your blog soon.
