A xanthippe is an ill-tempered woman. Trust me – on nights Baby Bug lets me get about two hours of sleep I am a xanthippe the next day. Not even my beloved coffee is much of a remedy. Isn’t xanthippe a terrific word?
X is a hard letter to work with. While there are few words beginning with x as compared to the more popular S or T, they are mostly pretty obscure.
Xenagogue – Guide; someone who conducts strangers. After visiting Monticello when I was 18, I gained a deep desire to be a tour guide. If my dream ever comes true I’ll tell my strangers I am a xenagogue but they can call me Xena for short.
Xenodochial – Hospitable; kindly to strangers. I assume this will be a requirement for being a xenagogue which is why I may never see my dream come true.
Xystus – Covered walkway for exercises. Who knew this had a name? I always called it the canopy or path roof.
X-Ray – I was wondering. I often get headaches from wearing my glasses. Wouldn’t x-ray vision give me a massive headache?

Most interesting, you missed the most meaningful of all………… One that you give BabyBug constantly, loads of xxxxxxx’s. Okay I know its not a word…………..:)

I had to get help finding a subject, relevant to Africa, for X. A friend suggested Xhosa which is the word I went with. It’s been amazing seeing the words people have come up with. Your’s is a good one.
