Ode to a Scale
Last week 12 miles I covered of ground.
You said I gained 2 pounds.
I will not be blue.
Screw you scale, I’m better than you!
Last week a 5K race I did attain.
You said 2 pounds I did gain.
I say I ran an effin’ 5K.
Screw you scale, I’m better than you!
Last week a hill I scaled backwards on all four.
You said 2 pounds I did incur.
I say strength I will continue to pursue.
Screw you scale, I’m better than you.
Last week all my numbers did astound
And yet you said I gained 2 pounds.
I say muscle and pride I did procure.
Screw you scale, I’m better than you.
Today my morning 5K I am running.
Even though you say it is worth nothing.
I know the true value.
Screw you scale, I’m better than you.
From my lovely poem, you probably gathered my scale went up this week. It’s ok. I’m not a number on a scale. America might think I am. Doctors might think I am. But I know I am NOT! I killed it last week and some stupid little number isn’t going to change how proud I am of the progress I made!
I gained 1.4 pounds. My total loss since starting is 6 pounds.
I still lost inches on my waist!
My first 5k of 13in2013 is done. Finished in 45:06. Not exactly my best showing but a good starting point.
Still enjoying my new running club and strollercize group.
Goals for the week:
No sweets!!
Drink more water!
Be better at encouraging my Mamavation sistas!
“This post is sponsored by Jessica – the Healthy Hip Chick and Mamavation – a community dedicated to obesity prevention & weight loss for women and I’m writing this to be entered into a giveaway. Although the working out and poem are all my own efforts. No one would require anyone to write such dribble. I’m just awesome like that.”

Ugh I gained this last week too but lost inches. I don’t get it but I am just going to concentrate on the inches. Besides, I feel great! Awesome job on the 5k!!!!!
I’m with you, & may very well have to borrow this poem. Screw you, scale!!!!
Great job with your running

You have done so well Junebug, sometimes it just takes time for the body to adjust and lose weight, this way it tends to stay off!
